Obituary of Jason Thomas “John” Smith

Peacefully surrounded by his loved ones, Jason passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, in his 73rd year. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Carol. He has been reunited with his mom, who Jason loved and cherished so much. Jason leaves by his special group of friends; Ron (his best friend), Mark, Bob and The Bocce Group.

If you knew Jason, you’d know that his friends were extremely important to him. He loved and enjoyed many years of playing pool and bocce ball, and going to different bars to listen to various Blues bands. Together with his friends, they always had a whole lot of fun.

Jason will be remembered as an outgoing and friendly man who accepted people for who they were. He was incredibly smart and never shied away from academia. He attended university in BC and took courses in geology and psychology. However, Carol believed that he went for the good times.

Jason and Carol were inseparable. He loved when she would cook Italian food, which his favourite cuisine. Together they collected fossils, gems, crystals, and old books. They also spent many hours stargazing at night appreciating the views of the stars and planets with their telescope. Jason loved his life and everyone who was part of it.

In accordance with Jason’s wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Jason may be given to the Brain Injury Association of Niagara.
