Obituary of Janette Marie Morrison

Janette Morrison (formerly Alexander, née Chamberlain) passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024, at her home in Niagara Falls, Ontario, at the age of 63. Born on January 25, 1961, to the late Bertram and Ileana (née Bilon) Chamberlain, Janette was a woman of warmth, compassion, and strength who touched the lives of many.

Janette spent most of her career as an administrative assistant, retiring from St. Anns Adult Learning Centre, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of many students and colleagues.

Janette was a devoted wife to Chris and a loving mother to her sons, Thomas Alexander and Sean Alexander (Elaine), who she raised as a single, working Mom. Her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Claire Esper Alexander, who brought light and happiness into her life.

Janette was a cherished sister to Patricia (Pat) Chamberlain, Jim Chamberlain (Janet), Robert Chamberlain (Anne), and Richard Chamberlain. She was a loving aunt to Pat’s children—Doreen (son Steven), the late Keri Lambert (children Kylie and Jacob), and Jack (Julie, daughter Juliana); Jim’s children—Erin, and Adam (Crystal, daughters Ariah and Caitlyn); Robert’s children—Dyan (daughter Elsie) and Bret; and Richard’s children—Richie and Kalena (daughter Brynleigh and Blaire).

Janette was also loved by Chris’ family, including his brothers, Malcolm (wife Maureen) and Tim (wife Diana), and his sister, Carm.

Janette found immense joy in her cherished cats, Paisley, Barney, Betty, and Maggies, who were always by her side, bringing her comfort and companionship. An artist at heart, Janette filled her home with warmth, love, and the beautiful art she created.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Janette's wishes, a private family celebration of her life will be held. Her ashes will be interred at Fairview Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Janette’s memory to the Walker Family Cancer Centre
or St. Elizabeth’s Health Care, both of which supported Janette and her family throughout her journey.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the medical professionals and caregivers who provided compassionate care to Janette in her final days.

Janette will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Janette was the first person I met on my first day of work at St. Ann in 1998. From that day on, she graciously helped me on numerous occasions over many years. Chris, she always spoke lovingly of you and her family. May her beautiful spirit rest in peace.

My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with Janette’s family. Janette and I worked together for 11 years, and she made my role as principal so much easier. I hold fondly the memories I have of our office lunches, the laughs we had, and her bringing in her artwork to share with me.
