Obituary of James Rex Pickles

Passed away after a brief illness, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 92. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen, and leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

James was born on April 17, 1931, in Great Britain and immigrated to Canada at the age of 18. He forged a long and successful career with Ontario Hydro as a masonry specialist, contributing his skills and dedication to the company. Upon retirement, he embarked on a new chapter of life, filled with adventures and exploration. One of Rex's greatest joys was traveling. As snowbirds, he and Gwen spent numerous winters in Florida, basking in the warmth and creating cherished memories. James was also known for his love of lawn bowling, and he participated avidly in the sport across the Niagara region. He formed lasting connections with fellow players and brought joy to the greens with his passion for the game.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local food bank or to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
