Obituary of James “Jim” Thomas McGragh

James “Jim” Thomas McGragh, Retired Millwright
October 22, 1946 - July 18, 2022

Peacefully in his home with his loved ones by his side Jim passed. Elaine McGragh (nee Drumm) his wife of 56 years and his daughter Toni McGragh are mourning the loss of a kind, hard working, caring and loyal family man. He dearly loved his grandchildren; Benjamin James Terry and Jessica Brook Terry; who were so happy they had a four day stay with him just days before he passed.

Jim leaves behind his brother John D. McGragh whom he loved and respected. In addition, family members that he truly loved also included Frank and Rosslyn Marton, Dennis and Donna Drumm, Norma Monahan, Paula Armstrong, Christina McGragh, Bob and Diane McGragh, and all of their families to name a few.

I received a note from our nephew Jesse Marton and it perfectly captures who Jim was; “Uncle Jim was more a grandfather figure to me than an uncle. He was a great man, mentor and role model for me in my youth and one of the very few men to tell me that getting married and starting a family would be the best thing I ever did. I wish the last chapter of his life was written differently, but his elder years are a tribute to his strength loyalty to family and his overall good nature. He worked extremely hard but lived, laughed and loved even harder. I'm forever grateful to have had him be such a big part of my life. We will always remember him as he was truly genuine and a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Rest in peace good sir."

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-734-1031). A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 3pm, 1376 Bird Road, Dunnville, ON.
