Obituary of James "Jim" Prudden
James “Jim” PruddenPassed away peacefully at Greater Niagara General Hospital on March 3, 2021 at the age of 70. Loving husband of Beverly Miller-Prudden who will miss him greatly along with her children and grandchildren. Jim will be missed by his siblings David (Marilyn), Kathleen (Charles McEwan), Stephen, Nancy, Joseph (Joanne), Mary (Julio Mandatori) and Mark (Elda). Beloved uncle of Sharon (Erik), Jennifer (Paul), Lisa (Jeremy), Damian (Kristin), Nicole, Daniel, Michael, Andy, and Julius. Great uncle of Jordan, Victoria, Amanda and Rowan. Jim will also be missed by his dog, George, who will miss his walks, treats and cuddles. Jim had many, many friends who are saddened by their loss and will be greatly missed by them. He will be remembered as a wonderful, caring and giving guy.
Jim loved many things, including his BMW, golfing and he was a member of several gun clubs. In his younger days, he played on the Old Timers’ hockey team and he also enjoyed skiing. He loved cooking dinner with his wife and taking dips in swimming pools. He was fun loving and enjoyed joking around. He loved to make people laugh, even if it meant doing something embarrassing to get them to. A drive to Oban Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake was something very special that him and his wife would do together and something that will be dearly missed. Jim was a proud retired worker from Dana, joining their team right out of university and worked there for 35 years before retiring in 2008.
Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133) has been entrusted with arrangements. As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life is planned for the future when more loved ones and friends can gather safely. Jim was my older brother, quite a bit older, in some ways more like an uncle.
When I was only five, he was already working in a factory, the Crush pop bottling factory, bringing home cases of Grape Crush …the kind of brother every kid wanted.
And he owned great cars. His MGA. His ’59 Corvette. When I was only 8 or 9, he dropped me off at school in his Lotus Super 7. Man, how I wanted every kid in school to see me pulling up in that car.
He taught me to play poker. He taught me to drive, going up and down Canal Road in his old International Scout.
He was there with me for a lot of great moments, there with me for a lot of great memories. He will always be there with me.
I am so sorry to learn of Jim’s passing. I was blessed to have known him. I enjoyed our visits and his generosity. Years ago, he helped me find the perfect guitar for my young son. Be comforted that his music will play on in heaven. My sincere condolences.
To a Great Cousin – we will miss you!
