Obituary of James Gerald "Jerry" Collins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce on the morning of April 12, 2022, James Gerald "Jerry" Collins, left us peacefully in his sleep. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 62 years, Lois, his cherished children: Terry, Tim (Lori) and Tammy, his 5 grandchildren and his great-grandson. Jerry will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Lynn (Louis) as well as his nieces and his nephews. He was greeted on the other side by his grandmother Sarah, who raised him from a young age, his parents Jim and Betty as well as his beloved Sheltie "Willy".

Jerry was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and enjoyed many happy years here. He was an employee at the American Can Company for 28 years. Jerry was very active in the sports community. He spent years curling and playing Slo-Pitch, he dedicated his time to coaching and refereeing hockey and baseball games as well as bowling for German Village. He enjoyed watching football and cheering on the Cleveland Browns.

Jerry had a contagious laugh and the best sense of humor and he was known for his one liners and sayings. One of his famous quotes was "I'm alright, the world's all wrong" He had the ability to fall asleep anywhere. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Cathy, Darlene, Danuta and all the nursing staff at Meadows of Dorchester for the compassion and care shown to Jerry during his time there.

In keeping with Jerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 354 2133) A private family interment will take place at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Jerry may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The Diabetes Society

I was sad to read today, of Jerry’s passing. I have many happy memories of Jerry back in the day playing slow pitch on the “Circus” with the boys from American Can.
My condolences to Lois and family. My thoughts are with you all.
