Obituary of Ingo Michalz

Following a fierce fight against COPD, Ingo Michalz passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, just weeks short of his 75th birthday. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Jean Michalz, daughter Sandra Vyse (Paul Mellor), son Jeffery Michalz (Rebecca), step-daughters Melissa Sudds and Jenna Sudds (Tim). His legacy will be passed on to his grandchildren Lauren and Mitchell, the Michalz minions Abigail, Chloe and Ryner; as well as Riley, Ryan and Brynn.

Born in Germany, Ingo's family sought a better life in Canada and his ship docked in Quebec when he was just 5 years old. In his stories he had a good life, a childhood of fond memories and maybe some mischief in there too. His family settled in Niagara, where he went to school and married (Susan Follick) and became a proud father of a daughter and son. Ingo always worked hard and as he aged, he remarried and became a beloved step-father and grandfather.

Ingo will be remembered as a man who worked hard and played hard! He was an avid sports fan and loved playing baseball and bowling, as well as singing some karaoke from time to time. He would often be found watching sports games and movies, woodworking and cabinet making as he was an avid woodworker, playing cards, reading his sci-fi, but most importantly, he lived for the moments spent with his family and friends.

Ingo passed peacefully and can now breathe easy, but he leaves an unimaginable void here with his loved ones. He will be greatly missed.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held. In memory of Ingo, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Society.

Jeannie and family members please accept my condolences for your loss of Ingo. The next little while will be dark, but remember all the good times together. I had met him once to pick up one of his wooden items and found him to be a very lovely, caring gentleman.
