Obituary of Horst Kurt Zschogner

On October 7, 2022 at the Hamilton General Hospital following a heart procedure, Horst Kurt Zschogner passed away with his family by his side at the age of 83. He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Margret Zschogner, his devoted children; Hanna Jones (Tony Zahra), Frank (Crystal), Mark (Mary), Horst Jr., and Randy (Megan Riley). Horst was Opa to 10 loving grandchildren; Samantha, Dyan, James, Hope, Skyelar, Matthew, Kristen, Sarah, Noah, Brayden and Brittany. He was greeted on the other side by his parents, Kurt and Gesina, his brother Harry and sister Inge. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins both here in Canada and in Germany.

Horst was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1967, which just happens to be the last time the Toronto Maple Leafs took home the Stanley Cup. Horst believed his relocation to Canada had cursed them. He enjoyed watching them play as well as the Toronto Blue Jays and the German soccer National team. He was a man of very few words until his teams were frustrating him, then there was lots to be said!

Horst was the proud owner of Lincoln Roofing and Siding for over 30 years. Upon his retirement, he wasn't one who could just stay home so he decided to join the team at a local taxi cab company.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). The family would like to send their sincere thanks to the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital for their care and support during Horsts stay with them.
