Hannelore (Niemeir) Weiler

1930-2022

Obituary of Hannelore (Niemeir) Weiler

Died peacefully on Thursday January 27,2022 at the age of 91, surrounded by all her loving family. Survived by her pride and joy of her life, her beloved children Barbara (Angus) Margret (Gary), grandchildren Colin (Tammy), James (Marybeth), Christine (Jay), Nicholas (Fiona), Zachary, and great-grandchildren Megan, Olivia, Owen, Brock, Myella, Jaxson and Ardyn.

Hannelore was the only child born to Otto and Elise (Hildmann) Niemeir. Hanna worked as a governess while living in Germany. In 1956 she married Peter Weiler (predeceased 1998). In 1959 they left their homeland of Germany with their daughter Barbara, then age 2, and her mother to start a new life in Canada. They settled in Montreal and in 1962 their daughter Margret was born. Hannelore was a woman of strength and perseverance. Hanna taught herself to speak English by watching TV and reading Harlequin Novels. In 1962 they moved to Chomedey. There she began her career at a nursing rehabilitation hospital for over 25 years. She went out of her way to always help and care for people and was always generous and giving. She loved her family unconditionally, she worried more for her family than her family ever could have. She always gave sound and solid advice even though at times it was difficult to hear, was always there to help us put back our broken pieces, taught us acceptance and forgiveness, how to be humble and kind, to work hard and not give up, always taught everyone to treat others the way we wanted to be treated, always pulled us together with love and cherished our individual personalities. Most of all she taught and demonstrated the importance of family, its strengths and value. Hannelore always opened her heart and door to everyone including her Heidehof family. Heidehof staff carried and supported her through all her happy times and struggles with open hearts, love and dedication. One of the family's greatest last gatherings was in November when we were able to celebrate her 91st birthday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In her memory donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Covenant House. Online condolences may be shared on Hannelore’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

It is with Very Sad hearts that Jim and I give our love and prayers to Barb And Marg, and their families. Hannah has ALWAYS been #1 in their lives. Her love and care for others definitely shines in her daughters, and families. She had a real sense of humor. I remember years ago visiting with her at Margs. We had tears in our eyes from laughing so hard at the things she was saying. Our prayers are for ALL those laughing moments to rise and help overshadow your pain and grief in the weeks and months ahead. She was a Very loving mom and grandmother and I know she appreciated ALL the things you did and shared with her. Because she was a GREAT mom and grandmother, she WILL be definitely missed, but will remain with you in your hearts and memories Forever. ❤ 🙏 Elaine
