Obituary of Gwen (Wendy) Bonenfant (née Libby)
Gwen (Wendy) Ellen Bonenfant (née Libby), passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at the NHS-Niagara Falls Site at the age of 63. Her infectious laughter, love for her dogs (especially Uber), and devotion to her husband, the late Stephen, defined her vibrant spirit.Wendy found joy in simple pleasures—casino adventures, Chinese cuisine at Kokomo’s, fishing, and swimming. The trailer at Scott's held cherished memories. Road trips with Stephen were filled with laughter, meeting for family dinners made for warm memories. Wendy enjoyed the experience of live performances and playing horseshoes.
Wendy's kindness and selflessness were unwavering. An "unsinkable" soul, she faced challenges with resilience. A Bob Seger fan, she embraced life with the spirit of "Old Time Rock and Roll."
She was predeceased by her parents Reginald and Doris Libby (née Collings), sister Cheryl and brother Terry. Wendy will be missed by her siblings Donna Kukk, Joanne Spero (Rick), twin brother Glenn (Cindy), Gary (Pat), Nellie Kingma, sister-in-law Mary Ann (Terry) and brother-in-law John (Cheryl), her sisters-in-law Sandra Bonenfant (Freddie) and Sheila Bonenfant, brothers-in-law Paul Bonenfant (Vicki), Tom Bonenfant (Helene), John Bonenfant (Muci) and David Bonenfant (Debbie) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wendy’s Soul Sister Sheila Lavery and her daughter Mary Campbell as well as close friends and neighbours, Korrine and her daughter Vera, will also mourn her passing.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A celebration of Wendy's life will be held at a later date.
