Obituary of Grant “Hogo” Farley

Our world has become a darker place as we all say goodbye to Grant, who passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. He was loved by so many people and will be forever remembered by his partner and best friend of 11 years, Dawn McGaw, who he referred to as "his wife", and her children James and Rachel (Matt). He was a loving Grampa to Jenna, and brother of Geraldine Terrio, Darlene Picard, and Maxine (John) Cardinale. Also known as “Uncle Homer” to many nieces, nephews, and a loyal friend to many. He will also be greatly missed by his furry companion, Ede. Grant was predeceased by his parents, Jearold and Florence Farley.

Grant was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and worked for a specialty steel-making company in Welland called Valbruna ASW Inc. Those that knew Grant or worked with him, will remember him as a very hard worker. If any task or job needed to get done, he was already taking care of it; this is how he was given the nickname “Get er done Grant".

Throughout his entire life he loved spending time with his family and friends. Travelling up North and going to the cottage was one of his favourite places to be. He would often refer to it as “God’s Country” where the “air was fresh”. He was most passionate about Harley and Indian motorcycles and would often frequent Friday the 13th in Port Dover. This is where he would grow his black coloured biker shirt collection, which was his signature style. Grant’s adventurous spirit, his incredible work ethic and willingness to give the shirt off his back for his family and friends, is his incredible legacy he leaves behind.

In accordance with Grant’s wishes, a private family gathering was held and cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A celebration of Hogo’s life will be held at a later date. In his memory, memorial donations may be given to the Niagara Falls SPCA.

Hoggo my friend, you will be severely missed. The weekly phone calls would always leave me smiling as you tried to explain your job to me. Or asked all the wireless router questions. Unfortunately I did not get that last phone call and it tore me apart. I hope you found your Valhalla! Iwill be sending something to the SPCA and maybe a red thong to the history museum;) Cheers!

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.
