Obituary of Gord Tait

TAIT, Gordon "Gord"
After a short illness, Gord passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Barbara, his loving wife of 47 years. Cherished father of Kimberley Tait, Patricia (Bryan) Hogge and Julie (Paul) Reynolds. Special Grandpa of Aaron (Melissa), Kyle and Christopher. Proud Great-Grandpa of Rylee. Survived by his mother-in-law Gerry Kemenes-Kettner. Dear brother of Jeanne and brother-in-law of Pat Tait, Patricia (Jim) and Gary (Johanna). Uncle Gord to David (Mary), Eric (Carol), Mary (Mark), Shannon, Stephanie, Stephen, Shawn and Gerry (Laura). Predeceased by his brother, Donald, brother-in-law, Earl and by his niece, Donna. Gord dedicated and devoted 68 years to his trade as an electrician, proudly a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 303. An avid sailor, sailing out of the Dalhousie Yacht Club, Gord built a 40 Ft. Ferro cement sailboat, in his driveway, which did successfully float! Barbara and Gord took a year long adventure sailing down south, to the Florida Keys. He was a self taught and talented musician, would play the piano for others to enjoy. Gord will be fondly remembered as a staple and one of the founders of the community, Creekside Senior Estates Co-operative, in St. Davids. He enjoyed helping and spending time with his family, community and friends. A special thank you to the nurses and PSWs from LIHN, Bayshore Home Health, and to Dr. Park and his palliative care team, for their support and great care. In accordance with Gord's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A Celebration of Life will be held at the Creekside Senior Community Centre, 23 Four Mile Creek Road, St. Davids, on Sept 15th from 2p.m.- 4p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Gord, may be given to the Hamilton Health Sciences. Life sends us many people. Some will have lasting ‘pictures’ if you may. Gord was one of those pictures – a life lived to the fullest, leaving memories too numerous too count. Thanks Gord for that ‘Slice of Life’
Sincere wishes to Barb and his family. Love Dave and Polly B.
