Obituary of Gordon Ross Jones
Sadly, we announce the passing of Gordon Ross Jones on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the NHS-Niagara Falls Site at the age of 75. He has been reunited with his parents Cecil and Laura (née Montith), daughter Theresa Lindberg (2011), sister Linda (2015) and his fur babies Bailey and Megan. He was the devoted husband of 32 years to Margaret "Maggie" Jones (née Tollar), proud father of Cynthia Jones and Denny Stewart, adored grandfather of Nicollette Silluzio, Joshua Holland, Samantha Lindberg and Rachelle Levesque as well as 12 great-grandchildren, loving brother to Bob (Mary Lou), Larry (Edna), Kathleen (Pat), Janette (Terry), June (Randy) and David (Tracy). Gord was a dear brother-in-law to Isobel and Harvey Shelton and Kathy and Rick Campisano. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.Born and raised in Niagara, Gord lived a full and vibrant life, known to all for his infectious sense of humor, hardworking nature, and unwavering kindness. A proud jack-of-all-trades, he spent 40 years working at Kraft/Post, where his vast knowledge of the plant and its operations made him a valuable and well-respected member of the team. His ability to do every job in the plant earned him the admiration of colleagues, who fondly remembered him as the go-to person for any challenge.
He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing on the serene waters of Lake Nipissing in North Bay, where he found peace and joy. He also loved spending time at the cottage, where his love for nature and the simple pleasures of life shone brightly. His loyal companion, his dog Cecil, brought him great joy and comfort, and the bond they shared was truly special.
A man of many talents, Gord also enjoyed baking—especially cakes for family birthdays—and making homemade applesauce, a treat that will be missed by all who were lucky enough to share it. In his younger years, he pursued a passion for photography, capturing the beauty around him with the same eye for detail and care he brought to everything in life.
Above all, Gord will be remembered for the love he gave to his family and friends, his dedication to his work, and his ability to make those around him smile. He was a man who believed in the importance of hard work, laughter, and taking time to appreciate life’s simple joys.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls.
If desired, donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre in Gord's memory and would be appreciated by his family.
