Obituary of Ginette Yvonne Krajcovic (née Gauthier)

Ginette Krajcovic, age 68, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at St. Catharines Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 29, 1957, in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, where her life’s journey began. Ginette attended Confederation High School, a time in her life that became especially meaningful when she met Mario. The two grew up on the same street, and what began as a youthful connection soon grew into a lifelong love that spanned over five decades.

She worked a variety of jobs before finding her long-term place at Gencorp/Henniges, where she dedicated 34 years of hard work, loyalty, and pride.

Ginette is survived by her devoted husband, Mario, with whom she shared almost 50 years of love. She tried so hard to reach their milestone anniversary, falling just three weeks short, but the life they built together and the bond they shared will forever stand as a testament to their commitment. She is also survived by her beloved son, Mark, and his loving partner, April Scott. Ginette’s devotion to Mark never wavered, and her pride in him was evident to all who knew her. She is further survived by her sister and best friend, Nicole, who stood faithfully by her side throughout her illness, visiting almost every day to comfort and support her. Ginette was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Lucille Gauthier, and her brother, Réal, who also passed away after a battle with cancer. She is also survived by her in-laws—Robert and Bonnie, John and Fran Krajcovic— and her sister-in-law, Veronica Smith. Ginette leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, along with countless friends, especially Kim and Jane Kerr and Ron and Shirley Peters whose lives she touched deeply.

Outside of work, Ginette embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved playing golf and took great pride; often with a playful grin—in beating her husband at Sparrow Lakes, where she had been a proud member for more than 20 years. She was an avid reader, filling countless bookshelves over the years before gratefully turning to her Kobo as her love of reading continued to grow. She also cherished tending to her little garden and sharing her vegetables with Chick, the neighbor, a simple but joyful tradition.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Catharines Hospital and the Walker Family Cancer Centre for the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity they provided to Ginette throughout her illness, especially to Dr. Vandermeer and her nurse, Debbie, her oncologist team who worked closely with her throughout her treatment, providing dedicated support and guidance. The family also extends heartfelt appreciation to Nora, her home-care nurse, who visited one or more times each week and provided comfort and attentive care. Finally, the family wishes to thank Pat Phipps, one of Ginette’s dear golfing friends at Sparrow Lakes, who traded books with her for years and who also volunteered at the hospital. Ginette held that friendship close to her heart.

In keeping with Ginette’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date with close family and friends.Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Welland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Ginette will be remembered for her strength, compassion, humor, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who loved her.

Sending our sincere heartfelt condolences to Mario, Mark, Nicki and family.
After meeting Mario & Ginette many years ago at Sparrow Lakes Golf Club, we became fast friends enjoying each others company for what became a life long friendship. Together we shared many golf getaways, surprise sundays on the 10th tee as well as many memorable pool parties, card games, dinners etc. Ginettes love for her family and friends was abundantly clear to all who knew her and she will be missed by many. May you Rest In Peace our dear friend. You will always have a special place in our heart, gone but never forgotten.
Love Always,
Kim & Jane Kerr
