Obituary of Gertie Mary Federow

April 7th, 1928 - April 25th, 2022.

Gertie passed away peacefully at her home filled with love on April 25 just after celebrating her 94th birthday. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Bruno (2016). Deeply missed by her son Art, daughter-in-law Rosanne and her grandchildren Sean, Karlee, Krista and Tara. She also leaves behind her son Wayne and grandchildren Jamie, Michael, and Jason; her son Jim, daughter-in-law Debbie and grandchildren Chris, Brandy, Wesley, along with her great-grandchildren. She will also be forever missed by her two fur babies, Chico and Max. Dear sister-in-law to Betty White. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Myrtle White, siblings Chuck (Ruth), Hazel (Gus), Hilda (Jim), George (Kay), Myrtle (Bob) and Art. Gert treasured her special friendships with her niece Margie, sister-in-law Pat Fedorowicz, nephew David White and friends Donna and Fern, during the last few years of her life. Also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Kim Matthews from CCAC and nurses Marslita and Christopher from St. Elizabeth's Palliative Care for their ongoing support, compassion and loving care during the last month of her life.

In keeping with Gertie's wishes, cremation has taken place. An interment will take place at Lundy's Lane Cemetery on Friday, May 6 at 12 p.m., where Gertie and Bruno will be placed together for eternity. Following the burial, a Celebration of Gertie's life will be held for family and friends at Betty's Restaurant, 8921 Sodom Rd, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133).
