Obituary of George Walter Bailey
George passed away peacefully at Millenium Trail Manor on Friday, June 21, 2024. Before joining the Niagara Parks Commission, he worked as a marketing director for the Skylon Tower, the executive director of the Niagara Falls United Way and Manager of the then Sheraton Foxhead.
George was the loving husband to Ellen Bailey, wonderful father to Michael Bailey, and Jennifer (Keith) Maxim. Poppa/Daddio to Megan, Mackenzie, Jordyn, and Conor. He was so proud of all of you. Beloved brother of Olive Chambers, Robert Bailey (deceased), Gregory Bailey (deceased), and he was a loved uncle.

Thinking of you all. Xo

Dear George, so sorry to hear that you have left us ☹️.

I was watching Niagara Falls A Docusoap from 2000 by chance today and was wondering where some of the people featured were today and unfortunately stumbled on this sad news. Seemed like a stand up guy. My condolences.
George was the most amazing man – nothing but great memories! When I first joined NPC in 1994, George immediately took me under his wing, and taught me everything that I know about the Park. Many times, when we were entertaining guests, we would “compete” on explaining “the Park”. He usually won, but was very generous to me. The best of the best!

My condolences to the Bailey family, and to everyone who feels George’s loss. I knew him as a good friend, and a great guy to work with. He put his heart into everything he did . He was energetic, affable, compassionate and understanding. Always willing to listen. We shared a keen interest in Niagara’s history, and George lived through some of it himself, documenting it with his camera and publishing informative booklets. He was a wonderful story-teller, too. with a great sense of humor. Thank you, George, for all you gave to Niagara, and for the many lives you touched and brightened, including mine. God bless you. Peace to your family.
