Obituary of George Alexander Stover

George has left behind his loving wife & best friend of 24 years, Virginia (Ginny) Stover, their furbaby Alfred, his siblings Maryann Stover, Margaret (Robert) Walpole, William (Barbara) Heinbecker, his in-laws Glynn and Jacqueline Speare, brother-in-law Matthew (April) Speare, many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong best friend John (Karen) Di Tommaso.

George was a man with a lot of integrity, respect and charisma. He made friends wherever he went. He built a community of friendship with several dog owners, to the point where his friend Joe Thornley continued to walk Alf to support Virginia.

George was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs since childhood and religiously watched every game. He also enjoyed car racing and loved to watch wrestling, which he learned to love from his Aunt Ivy. George was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen & attended a few concerts thanks to his sister Maryann.

George was a husband you dream of having: loving, supportive with unconditional love and a true best friend and confidant. Those that knew George knew that he loved to have fun and joke around.

He will always be missed. He was irreplaceable. His soul is shining bright in the sky.

In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His celebration of life will be held on March 25, 2025. Further details will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in George’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or your local SPCA.

Beautiful memorial to George. He was a very good guy. Last good memory I have with George is walking half a mile after finding a handicap parking space to go to the car show in Toronto

Beautifully written testament to the life of a wonderful man. We will always cherish the memories of George walking Alf up and down the street, his friendly conversation and his great sense of humour. Our hearts break for his love, Ginny. Until we meet again.

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.
