Obituary of George Edward & Alice Ann Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of George Edward Smith and his beloved wife Alice Ann Smith (née Kobzey). George, born October 21, 1937, peacefully departed on June 27, 2024, while Alice, April 11, 1939, passed away on January 17, 2018. They were predeceased by their son Gary Smith (1996) and George's siblings Wayne Smith, Connie Ealse (Bob), and Mona Hamilton.

George and Alice are survived by their loving family: Donald Smith (Wanda), Paul Smith (Amparo), Barbara Swan (Russell, 2018) and many nieces and nephews.

George and Alice were united in marriage on July 1, 1963 in Toronto, and their bond was marked by a shared passion for shopping and collecting items such as clothes, shoes, watches, vehicles—anything that caught their eye. They were affectionately known as "shopaholics."

Both George and Alice were known for their laid-back demeanor, friendly personalities, and easy-going nature. They were dedicated churchgoers, with Alice being a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking and had a career at the Eaton Centre in Toronto. George, a romantic at heart, spent over 30 years with the TTC, driving buses and connecting with his community.

In accordance with George's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of George and Alice's life will be held in New Brunswick at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor their memory and share stories of their impactful lives.
