Obituary of George B. Kinnaird
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Pa, who peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, at the age of 85. Forever loved by his wife of 30 years, Barbara. An adored and dedicated father to Sue (Matt), Alan (Rose), Peggy (Chris), Kim (and the late Steve), Tommy, and stepfather of Billy and Shannon (Rejean).Pa was most proud of his 5-generation family. He cherished his 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dear brother of Bev, Gary and brother-in-law to Mary Ellen (Tim). George will be greatly missed by his fur-baby Oscar, and by many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Jeremy, his brother Ken and sisters Betty and Ruth, also by his late wife, Judy and was stepfather to Timmy.
We have lost the patriarch of the family. Most people knew him as “Pa”, he was an incredibly loving and dedicated family man that you'd ever meet. As a young man, he raised his four children on his own, built his home, and worked full time to provide for his family. George worked at Atlas Steels for 33 years and was also a long-time volunteer for the Christian Aid. He was well respected by many and will be remembered as a wonderful man. His favourite pastime was being an avid woodworker. He was very talented, artistic, and kept his shop in an immaculate condition. Everything he built was made to last and our walls hold many pieces of his woodwork. You could always count on him to be honest, a good guy, kind and patient. For all the difficulties he faced throughout his life; his love for family and great sense of humour carried him through it all.
A very special thank you to Dr. Scher and his amazing palliative care team, also to the LHIN, St. Elizabeth and Paramed, for their compassionate care and for giving George the opportunity to stay home as long as possible.
In accordance with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to the Fort Erie SPCA or to the Palliative Care Unit at the Douglas Memorial Hospital.
Grand Is Pa
A large framed man, gentle and kind
Through smiling eyes, his good nature shines.
Unity with family brings rich emotion
Pa is the toy-maker with magical potion.
Love and compassion is surely known
By passive enchantment easily shown.
Guidance over mountains
Pa led the way
To open fields
Of truth day by day.
Wisdom runs deep
With no judgement passed
Growth in a friendship
Will eternally last.
Admiration reflects
Treasured moments shared
Family ties of endurance
Are mutually aware.
God bless your soul
May you always be spry
For without you Pa
Life would be,
But only a sigh!

Condolences to all of Georges family and his wife. George was an amazing person and this world has lost a good, kind, strong, sensitive, loving and funny man!
Condolences to all of George’s family. He was all the things mentioned in his Obit plus a good friend. We too have many pieces of his wood working prowess. Plus other items that he had a hand in helping with. Flooring laid down, a new section of dry wall, screen storm doors installed. He loved his family above all things. He liked playing Scrabble on the computer and usually won a lot of our games. I didn’t let him win just because he was older either. We miss you George, your big heart and always there to help if he could. RIP my friend. Till we meet again on the other side. Love Roger, Sue and Joey. Michael and Audrey too.
