Gary Sinodinos
In Loving Memory of

Gary Joseph Sinodinos

1948 - 2018

Obituary of Gary Joseph Sinodinos

Passed away after a long battle with kidney disease on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Welland Hospital, at the age of 70. Gary has been reunited with his wife Brenda (1992). Loving father to Kim Sinodinos, Lindsay (Jared) Cairns and Marc (Kendra) Sinodinos. Proud Grampa-Gary to Mikayla, Charlotte, Brendan and Madeline. Loving brother of Saundra (the late Alex, 2015) Kacho. He will be remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and will be dearly missed by his family and friends; especially Wayne and Dave, also by his pets; King and Dixie. Gary was predeceased by his parents Claire and Frank Sinodinos and by his sister Jean Hendriks.

Gary grew up in Niagara Falls, and sustained friendships throughout his life. When he was 18 he moved to Montreal to work for CN Rail and it was there he met his wife Brenda. When raising their family they lived in Montreal and Mississauga, finally settling in Niagara. Gary enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball, as well as golfing with his friends. He loved all sports but his favourite sport was horse racing. He ventured to different tracks, and his favourite track was the Fort Erie Race Track; his best tip was to bet on the 1-5-7! Gary would help his daughter Kim and niece Alexis with fundraising for various events which supported the program for Second Start Thoroughbreds. He also enjoyed sunny days at the barn tending to his own horses. Family and friends meant everything to him, he enjoyed laughing, eating, Derby parties, karaoke (singing the oldies) and Christmas with his family. Becoming a grandfather was his proudest moments, he loved his four grandchildren very much. They brought him his greatest joy. It was undeniable that if you were his friend you were his family, and if you were family, you were everything to him.

Thank you to the nurses of the Niagara Health System and to Dr. Dan for his care throughout Gary’s illness. A special thank you to his sister (and our aunt) Saundra for years of support throughout our lives; Gary cherished his relationship and time spent with her. In accordance with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Gary’s life, which will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2-5pm at Showtime Entertainment, 92 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Online donations and condolences may be shared on Gary’s tribute page found at essentialscbs.com.

So sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. I worked with him at the Niagara Falls Review many years ago and he brought much laughter to the workplace. We enjoyed his sense of humour and his friendship.
