In Loving Memory of
Fridel Brandes
1935 - 2025
Obituary of Fridel Brandes
Passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025 at the age of 90. Fridel was a loving mother to Kathrin Campbell, the late Michael Brandes and Steve Brandes (Judy). Beloved Omi to Sean (Tasha) Campbell and Andrew (Emily) Brandes. Cherished Great-Omi to Rutherford, Celia, Theodore and Bruce.Born in Germany, Fridel immigrated to Canada at the age of 20 to start a new life, first settling in Montreal, later moving to Toronto, and eventually made her home in Niagara. Fridel will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, her kind heart and fun-loving nature. Fridel enjoyed swimming, suntanning, knitting and crosswords. She was a truly gifted cook and baker, especially of traditional German dishes, and her plum cake will be remembered fondly by her family.
Above all, Fridel adored her family. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren - when they were young, she delighted in bowling, watching movies, visiting amusement parks, and simply playing together - creating memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
Fridel had a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers at Rapelje Lodge for the care and compassion they provided over the years.
In keeping with Fridel's wishes, cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society

My Mom (Joan) was a friend of Fridel’s many years ago, when they worked together at Ziggy’s. She was a lovely woman, and I know my Mom always enjoyed the time they spent together.
My sincerest condolences. She was truly a remarkable person. Many many wonderful memories. Rest in Peace at last…❤️
I remember your Mom as being kind & funny when we first met over 50 years ago and every time we got together in St. Catharines. And of course her plum cake. My sincere condolences Kathie and Steve and your whole family.
