Obituary of Freda Charm Luke

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 10, 2024 at the age of 64. Freda was predeceased by her mother, Mary and her father, and by her brother Andy (January 2024). Freda was a loving sister to Angel (Michael) Barto and Angelo Interisano. Cherished aunt to her niece Ashley and nephew Anthony. She is also survived by many cousins in the United States. Freda will be deeply missed by her special friends Brenda "Ralphie," Christina "Chrissy," and Sandra "Sandy."

Freda was born in Blossburg, Pennsylvania, and eventually moved to the Niagara Region at a young age. Freda's profound love for animals blossomed from her upbringing on a hobby farm in Wainfleet, where she and her siblings spent their formative years surrounded by animals. Her experiences on the farm instilled in her a lifelong passion for animals of all kinds. Freda's home was adorned with animal-themed decor, reflecting her fondness for creatures big and small. She had a particular affinity for hummingbirds.

Freda was known for her creativity. She had a passion for crafting, including colouring, artwork, and doll-making. Her warm and vibrant personality lit up any room she entered, and her big heart and wonderful sense of humour endeared her to everyone she met. Freda welcomed all with open arms, embodying a spirit of inclusivity and kindness. Freda found immense joy in being around her family, and she had a special relationship with her niece and nephew that they will no doubt cherish forever. She was the glue that kept her family together, and will be missed beyond measure.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU department and team at Welland Hospital for their compassionate care.

In keeping with Freda's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest at Overholt Cemetery in Port Colborne at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, Diabetes Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
