In Loving Memory of
Foster M. Stark

Obituary of Foster M. Stark
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our strong family patriarch Foster (Pops) Stark, aged 83, at Niagara Falls Hospital on the 10th of September, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. His amazing wife Linda, daughter Laurie (John), son Steve (Kirsty) comforted him to his peaceful resting place where he can reunite with his predeceased sons Bill and Michael and mom Geraldine. Let the card games begin again.
So many people loved Foster in their lives. The strength he passed on through his honesty and passion for life as a notable teacher at Laura Secord High School in St. Catharines, curler, Snooker player, winemaker and sampler, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, neighbour and friend. He gave so much and asked for very little in return. As the news of his passing spreads, he will be the topic of many conversations and that will please him enormously. For the family, including his son Stewart (Karen), his sisters Kim, Sue, Lesley and Steph, son-in-law Rob, grandchildren Kim (Mike), Nick (Anisa), Aaron (Dawsyn), Kelsey (Adam), Jude, Roan and Evan, we have the honour to continue our lives in ways that will always make Foster proud.
Foster’s wishes for a family only celebration of life after cremation will happen in due course. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Any kind donations are requested to be forwarded to Red Cross, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) or Canadian Cancer Society, thank you. Online condolences may be shared on Foster’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

So many fun memories from a long time ago.. Visits with Cousin Foster were always interesting and will live on in my memory. Computers allowed some continued contact over the years often bringing a good laugh or two. Foster was unique, personable and well loved. Most sincere sympathy to Linda and family
We visited Niagra Falls many times over the last 30 years (from the UK) and playing golf and snooker with Foster was always a highlight ( more recently drinking wine). We miss him very much and visits will not be the same.
Another old friend has gone from this realm. I send condolences to his family from one who has known him for many years. He will be greatly missed, by many.
RIP Foster. Peace to the family.

To Mrs. Stark and family
Mr. Stark was one of my teachers at Laura Secord Secondary School in the 80’s. My absolute favourite. Grade 9 can be a difficult transition for many. Mr. Stark was inspiring, kind, fair, engaging, funny, inclusive, encouraging and challenged us all to be our best. I always looked forward to his class, and I realize now in hindsight, that he was the consummate professional and a rare gift to the profession of teaching and all who were lucky enough to be one of his students.
I am so very sorry for your loss.

Thinking of family and friends at a very difficult time. Foster was my teacher in Dunnville High School. My favourite. He understood that not all kids were the same, from their upbringing and their personality. He judged himself accordingly and would deal with them with understanding. I thought of him often and wondered how he was doing. Another great guy gone.
My condolences to Linda and her family . Linda so very sorry for your loss but l think Foster is now pain free and in a much better place . Foster was a very giving man to his family and friends and neighbours.. He had a very caring relationship with his wife Linda as he always referred to her as his princes . As she truly is !!! Our thoughts are alway with you and your kids . Love your BFF. Wendy and Dan
Dear Linda and Family
Foster was my colleague, mentor, team mate and most importantly friend.
Although we didn’t see each other often of late, we always had a firm handshake and kind word to exchange. Teaching, together at Laura Secord, Foster and others mentored me to become better. Thanks to him, I too became a department head of Business Studies. We spent more than our fair share of time after class on Fridays catching up and enjoying each others company. The Legion on Vine was a favorite.
We especially enjoyed playing together on the Walters Fumblers, celebrating wins and losses at the Regency.
So many dear memories.
Pat and I will cherish Foster in our hearts.
I was lucky to be Foster’s neighbor and friend for the last decade. Our favorite activity was meeting at dinner time at the fence line to share a glass of wine & wonderful conversation. Foster generously shared his vegetables from his impressive garden with our family. How I will miss him & our time together. To Linda & family our deepest condolences. Rest in Peace my friend. Until we meet again.
Foster was one of my high school mentors.
He taught me a great about about computers, programming, networking, and UNIX.
However, far beyond that he was an amazing teacher, and a good friend.
Whilst teaching he would meticulously explain how and why we were to do something the way we were told and not the way we thought was better, or good enough!
It was a life lesson, that I didn’t fully appreciate in the moment, until much later in life, but he was correct.
Another time, he explained to me that, “Computers are wonderful things, but if you are typing something in more than once, you’re doing it wrong!”
It was another lesson that was never forgotten, and I still follow today.
Foster, you will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know and work with you, over the years.
Rest in peace my friend, you did good!
