Mourning the loss of a local Port Colborne man, Felix Forte.
I hadn’t seen Falooch, as I called him, in many years and often wondered what became of him.
He was an odd duck socially which caused him to often be the brunt of people’s cruel jokes.
I felt a special bond with him because I was often a victim at least until I finished high school. Many of us were.
I don’t recall how we met..maybe in JobFinders Club, which was a govt program designed to teach job search skills.
I believe I encouraged him to come out to volunteer with MaClean Hunter, the local cable television station. He loved it and volunteered there for more than 25 years.
I got the chance to work with him at the Parks & Recreation department for a short time. He was a hard worker.
In the end, this wonderful soul who flew under the radar for most of his life, contracted ALS and passed this week.
I write this mainly because there will be no public service for Felix, but also to serve as a reminder that life is so precious..here one day and gone the next.
Felix’s passing and others who have passed just yesterday have truly inspired me to not put off those things I’ve wanted to accomplish.
I’m very saddened to learn of the passing of Felice. I was his one time care giver just b4 he passed. He was a kind soul and I was looking forward to helping him and getting to know him. My heart goes out to his family and friends. May God rest his soul. Sincerely Susanne Zimmer Basque CHW Bayshore
My sincere condolences to Felix’s family and friends.
Like many, I knew Felix through his work at Cogeco covering Niagara Falls Council meetings and the Mayor’s Talkshow. A genuinely nice guy,. I always enjoyed seeing him on the crew.
