Obituary of Evelyn Lohnes (née McPhail)
Evelyn Lohnes (née McPhail) of East Lake Road in Maynooth, peacefully departed this world on February 9, 2024, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Born on November 18, 1932, on the McPhail homestead just outside Carnarvon, Ontario, Evelyn's life was characterized by love, family, and cherished memories.Preceding her in death were her brothers Fredrick, Cecil, Hebert, and Weldon, along with her sister Anne. Evelyn's departure leaves behind a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, yet her spirit continues to live on in the memories of all who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Evelyn possessed a remarkable talent for both baking delicious treats and creating beautiful garments through her skilled sewing. These simple pleasures brought joy to those around her and left an enduring legacy of her craftsmanship and generosity.
In marriage, Evelyn found enduring companionship and happiness. Her first marriage to Norman Linden Mark brought forth four beloved sons: Robert, Donald, Douglas, and Shawn. Later in life, she found love anew with Robert Arnold Lohnes, blending their families together seamlessly and welcoming Robert's children Pam, Scott, Brian, and Donna into their loving home. Evelyn was grandma to 10 and 13 great grandchildren. While Evelyn cherished the beauty of nature, her final days were spent in the comfort of Niagara Long Term Care in Niagara-On-The-Lake, surrounded by the compassionate care of dedicated PSWs and nurses. Special thanks to Stephen Micheals of Bancroft who visited with Evelyn on a daily basis. Nonetheless, her heart remained connected to the memories of her beloved Maynooth, where she shared countless cherished moments immersed in the tranquility of the natural surroundings. Evelyn's gentle spirit, unwavering love, and nurturing presence will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may have departed this world, her legacy of love and compassion endures in the hearts of those she touched.
In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A Celebration of Life will be held in the months to come. Evelyn will be interred at the Maple Lake United Church Cemetery in Stanhope, Haliburton, Ontario
As we bid farewell to Evelyn, may her memory serve as a beacon of love and light, guiding us through our grief and inspiring us to cherish each precious moment of life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. It is not easy when family pass even if they pass at an older age. Aunt Ev helped me when I was getting married. I think she worked in a bridal shop and was there when I purchased my dress and made suggestion of parasols for the brides maid with our out door wedding. She will be missed.
Love and prayers, Darlene & Mel
