Obituary of Evana "Ivy" Brant

Brant, Evana Eleanor "Ivy"

After living a full and wonderful 88 years of life, Ivy; a kind and well-loved resident of Chartwell Niagara, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Sunday morning,  April 14, 2019. She has been reunited with her husband James (d. 1993) and with her sons Douglas (d. 2014) and Timothy (d. 2017).  Left to celebrate Ivy's life is her daughter Dawn (the late Wayne) Amato, daughters-in-law Jamie Brant and Patty Brant. A sweet grandma of Ashling, Cathlinn, Kate, Emily (Ed), Amy (Brian), Erin (Jeff) and Justin. Proud G'ma to Cali, Nathan and Charlotte. Dear sister of Lesia (Peter) Harbus and will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, too many to mention. This world has lost a fiercely independent woman (who lived her life exactly how she wanted to), golf and bowling master, perogie maker, Cribbage champion, the hostess with the mostess, a dear friend of many and the matriarch of our family. Ivy was blessed to live a life where she was retired longer than she worked; though she did dedicate 25 years working for Consumer's Gas.

Our family would like to thank the doctor, nurses and staff of Chartwell Niagara for their special care and support. Ivy felt that you were part of her family and you did an exceptional job keeping her safe and loved. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. It was also her wish that you raise a glass and have a toast with her favourite drink, a Rusty Nail! Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials (905-354-2133). As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to Chartwell Niagara or to a charity that you are passionate about supporting. Online condolences and donations may be shared on Ivy’s tribute page found at essentialscbs.com.
