Obituary of Edwin "Grumps" Webber
Surrounded by his loving family, Edwin passed away peacefully in his home, on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the age of 88. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margie. He was the loving father of Patti Lynn (Placido) Iammarino and Sandra (Harry) Walker; cherished Grumps of Michael, Kallie (Russell), Chase (Jennifer), Molly (Elijah), Harry Jr. and Gage; and, proud Great-Grumps of Samuel, Eliott, Graham, Sadie, Israel and soon to arrive Haddie.Edwin has been reunited with his beloved sons William (d. 1958) and Bradley (d. 1991), and by his sisters Peggy and Ella.
Edwin worked at London Life for over 30 years, but will be remembered most for his retirement job as the man in the booth at Gales Gas Bar in Chippawa. Neighbours will remember Grumps for his spectacular Christmas light displays in winter, and his beautifully manicured gardens in summer. Some of his favourite times were spent in his backyard maintaining his fish pond, and golfing with his lifelong friends, Jean and Dave Taylor.
A special thank you to Edwin’s neighbour Chris (Andrea) Lococo, PSW Joseph, and palliative care nurse Lilia, who all selflessly cared for Edwin throughout his last months. Their support will never be forgotten.
In accordance with Edwin’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133).
A celebration of Grumps’s life will be held on Sunday, March 17 from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the Delphi Banquet Facilities (Main Hall) at 4414 Portage Road, Niagara Falls; a memorial service will take place at 2:30 P.M. Edwin will be interred with his son Bradley, at Fairview Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared on Edwin’s tribute page found at essentialscbs.com.
