Obituary of Edna Hodgson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Hodgson (née Sumbler) on September 23, 2025, at the Niagara Health – Marotta Family Hospital.Edna will be forever missed by her devoted husband, James Hodgson, and her children: Brett Ruck, Bart Ruck, Randy Hodgson, Rob Hodgson, and Bonnie Hodgson. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren and an extended family who will remember her with love.
Edna had a true zest for life. A fiercely strong-willed woman, Edna lived life on her own terms. A proud bingo fanatic, she never missed a chance to play. She found joy and peace in fishing, and once caught a record-sized pike at Lloyd Lake, a story still told with pride by those who knew her best. With a creative spirit, Edna loved hairdressing and was an accomplished quilter, winning several awards for her intricate and beautiful work. She had little interest in shopping, preferring the simple pleasures of home of a good crime drama on TV, the companionship of her beloved dogs, and time spent doing what she loved most.
In keeping with Edna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No donations are requested. Instead, the family encourages you to remember Edna in your own special way — perhaps with a game of bingo, a quiet moment by the water, or simply by sharing a story that brings a smile.

Hello Jim,
So sad to know of the passing of Edna. May you and the rest of your family be strengthened and comforted. In our thoughts and prayers Have our deepest condolences. James and Vivian Afidenyo.
So sorry for your loss Jim and family. Edna and I played a lot of bingo, gas crewing at the races and crocheting together at the house while Steve and Jim worked on bikes in the garage. Edna was certainly her own person and I’m sure she will be missed by many.
Our sincere condolences to the Family & Friend . She will be miss by her Bingo family in our little town . RIP Edna 🙏🏻
I am so sorry for loss. Edna was like a second mom to me, she helped me take care of my son and was always there to give me the cold hard truth. I loved her and she will be missed. R.I.P.
Jim and family, Our deep condolences for the loss of your loved one. Our prayers for the family.
Our Condolences to Jim and Family… Great memories of hanging out in Jim’s garage on Beaverdams Rd and getting haircuts from Edna.. Having a coffee in the kitchen and chatting was always fun,, and great times at the bike races too!
RIP Edna
I”ve been remembering Edna the last few days since I heard of her passing….all the little things I remember her for especially. Why do I think of those long ago days out in the backyard on Beaverdams with the our kids in that above ground pool. When I think of her too I think of her always going to bingo. How she loved that darned game! I went with her once to the Fallsview firehall and was amazed at how she seemed to be playing so many cards and me with two…I never played again. She left me with a complex, I think. Oh, her quilts! I was so impressed with her handiwork! She was amazing. God bless her. Fly high, Edna…..see you whenever.
Deepest condolences to Jim and family
