Obituary of Dwight John Angus Crawford
Our beloved Dwight John Angus Crawford left us peacefully, surrounded by the comfort of his family on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the age of 75. He has been reunited with his parents Earl and Mildred Crawford (née Dewar), his brothers Kyle, Fraser and Randy and his infant sister Marjorie. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 20 years, Julia Crawford (née Welker), his loving children; Tammy Morrone (Pete), Lorraine Townson (Adam), Deanna Morden (Phil), "Just" Jake Tremblay (Tegan), Lori Bryan, Matthew Bryan (Krysta) and Debbie Lafleur (Jason). Dewy was a cherished Papa to Jerred, Kiersten (Dylan), Nick, Riley, Brock, Taylor, Erynn, Connor, Noah, Payton, Lexi, Beckett and Jaxon. He will be remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law Sally and Debbie and brother-in-law Ken Welker as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his close friends Dennis Elliot, Jack Cassell and Tim Milligan.Born in Quebec, Dwight was known for his forgiving nature, quick wit and playful sense of humor. He had a unique way of bringing joy and laughter to those around him, often playing pranks or telling jokes to lighten the mood. A quiet and gentle soul, he was always ready to lend a hand to others, offering his help on many projects over the years. He found solace in the quiet while creating many beautiful pieces out of wood.
As a heavy equipment operator, Dwight spent many years working for Campbell Bros, operating the Gradall, a job he loved. After an injury forced him to retire in the mid-90s, he transitioned to a position with Rose City Towing, where he continued to contribute his expertise. In his younger days, he did some welding on the Algoma ships. Dwight was also the proud owner of D. Crawford Tree Removal, and his craftsmanship and dedication were evident in all the work he did.
An avid lover of animals and of music, Dwight was a self-taught guitarist with a passion for Old Country tunes. He enjoyed nothing more than strumming his guitar and listening to his favorite songs. He also had a special fondness for collecting die-cast trucks from Canadian Tire, Home Hardware and John Deere, a hobby that brought him great joy. In his spare time, Dwight found comfort and contentment in his homemade quarry, where he spent hours operating his remote-controlled heavy equipment machinery. He also had an unwavering love for pies and tarts with raisin being his very favourite but I'm sure he had yet to meet a pie or tart he didn't like!
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a time to offer comfort and share memories has been set aside on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services 221 Division Street, Welland, ON.
