Obituary of Douglas "Doug" Whalen

It is with broken hearts that we share that Doug passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, on Sunday, July 10, 2022, after fighting a hard battle with his declining health. For 73 years, right until his very last day, he always wanted to make sure everyone was "okay" and taken care of. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Catherine and by his daughters April and Jenny. He was a proud Papa of Troy, Payton and Jordan. Dear brother of John, Henry, Dave and was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews. Doug has been reunited with his parents, siblings and nephews.

We would like to share a very special thank you to our whole family for their support through the past year, especially to Julie for always going above and beyond to caring for our dad.

In accordance with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). An interment will be held at 11:30am, on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery, 1900 Thompson Road, Fort Erie. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to a celebration of Doug's life at The Plaice Bar and Grill, 981 Garrison Road Fort Erie.
