Obituary of Douglas Arthur Allen

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Arthur Allen on March 31, 2022 at the NHS- Welland Site at the age of 69, surrounded by all his loving family. Left to mourn Doug are his children: Laura Lynn, Jennifer Sills (Stefan), Candace Allen and Tyler Allen; his grandchildren: James MacIntyre, Dylan Jones, Kylee Allen, Aubree Betts and James Betts; his siblings: David (Catherine), Donald, Debbie Stacey and Dale (Cathy). He will be sadly missed by all who knew him but especially by his furry companion, Nala. Doug was greeted on the other side by his parents Robert and Joan and his brother-in-law Al Prytula.

Doug worked for Coca-Cola for 45 years supplying many cities with their products. He was very loyal to the company and would never let a competitor's product in his house! He wouldn't even eat at a restaurant that didn't supply Coca-Cola. He was a social butterfly and had the ability to make friends anywhere he went. He enjoyed watching hockey and football, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs and either the Bills or The Packers. Doug also loved playing golf and almost every weekend was spent at Oaklands Golf Club. He was an avid and competitive card player. He had the ability to watch cards as he would play Euchre with friends and family members. Doug loved music; Journey and Pink Floyd were some of his favourite bands. He liked the song "Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot, which is fitting because he enjoyed watching documentaries on boats and war because his father fought in World War II as part of the Navy.

In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905 354 2133). A graveside service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery on April 20, 2022 at 1:00PM where Doug will be laid rest with his parents as part of his wishes. If desired, donations in memory of Doug may be made to The A.L.S Society of Canada.
