Obituary of Dorothy Garbutt

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing woman on Friday, January 6, 2023. Dorothy is the beloved wife of Milford with whom they celebrated their 70th anniversary in November. Loving mother of Wayne (the late Frances), Wanda (Brian) Roman, Shelley and Crystal (Don). Cherished Granma Kap to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by her dog Taffy, step sister and extended family members. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents James and Gertrude, her step father Fred Ward, her 5 siblings and 5 step siblings.

Dorothy was known for her love of crafts, no matter what craft it was Dorothy loved to make them from making Christmas ornaments to birthday cards. She and Milford also owned and operated their restaurant Caruso's Fish and Chips in Kapuskasing and in Thunder Bay where people came to gather as a family to enjoy good food. Dorothy kept that mentality with her family as well and always tried to have them all together as much as possible.

The family would like to send their deepest gratitude to all the staff at March of Dimes for all your care and compassion. In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Memorial Donations may be made to the March of Dimes or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
