Obituary of Donna Maureen Martens

Peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital just shy of her 63rd birthday, we said goodbye to Donna Maureen Martens. Left to mourn this loss is her devoted husband of 45 years Gary, cherished sons Christopher and Matthew, loving mother Mildred, adored sister Patricia Mocha and dear mother-in-law Inge Martens. Donna is predeceased by her father William, sister Joanne Mocha, father-in-law Henry and sister-in-law Caren Bergsma.

Donna was born in St. Catharines and has worked in medical records for most of the hospitals in the Niagara Region but spent most of her career at Greater Niagara General Hospital. She had a great work ethic and just lived day to day. Being in a hospital setting, she had an appreciation of how fleeting life is. She will be terribly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of Donna's life will be held at the Unifor Retiree Centre 124 Bunting Road St. Catharines on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the staff at GNGH for their care and compassion while Donna was with them. If desired, donations in Donna's memory can be made to The Walker Family Cancer Centre.

To the Family:
I was so sad to read that Donna has passed. I work at GNG too and she was always my “go to” person in Medical Records. Donna was always pleasant, helpful and kind. I am so sorry for your loss.

Joyce and I worked with Donna for many years in Medical Records at GNGH. Very fond memories of working with Donna. She made it a pleasure to come into work. Always a smile and good work ethic. Rest in Peace Donna.

I had the pleasure of working with Donna for many years at GNGH. She was a happy and very positive person and made the office a great place to work. You could always count on Donna to get things done. She will be missed.
