Obituary of Donald Clifford Peppy
It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Donald Clifford Peppy on Friday, June 28th, 2024.Don will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Anne, of 33 years. Don, or "Toad" as he was known by his immediate family, was the cherished Father of Christopher, Colin (John), Tamara (Barnabas) and Zachary (Cheryl), adored Grandpa of Brenna, Kirk, Liza, Christopher and Herald, and loving Great Grandpa of Trinity and Kiara. Lovingly remembered by his brother Ron, in laws, Sophie (Alfred-deceased), Harry (Nancy) and Martin (Genevieve) and Renate. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Peppy (nee Bellows), and siblings Gordon, Earl, Jim, Graham, Fred, John, Pearl, Floss, & Ruby.
When Don was a young man, he played trumpet in the Salvation Army band in Montreal. Don also loved sports. A serious golfer, Don was known to have played 54 holes on a Saturday! Don loved to play tennis and spent time coaching kids at the Pickering Tennis Club. He also attended tennis camp annually in New York State for several years. Don was an avid reader. He also enjoyed watching the CFL and his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Don was a hard-working successful management accountant, initially working at the Uniroyal, and then Monsanto, Johnson Controls and ICG, where he played an integral role as Regional Administration Manager for many years. After his retirement from ICG. Don took on a variety of other work and spent time as a painter, in sales, and doing carpentry work for his and Annie's business, "Toad's Treasures." In the end, Don spent much of his time nurturing his accounting business and in true Peppy style he completed the 2023 tax season before his passing. He never tired of fighting for his clients' interests and had the CRA on speed dial to his last day.
Don's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. And he was always happiest when he was able to be of service to others. If you had a problem that needed solving. Don would be there, calmly offering advice or teaching you something new, or telling you a story about when he himself learned important lessons in business or in life. Don treated everyone with kindness and respect. He had a warm, generous personality that meant he was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
