Obituary of Donald Frederick Adshead

DONALD FREDERICK ADSHEAD

Passed away peacefully with his best friend of 20 plus years by his side, at Greater Niagara General Hospital, on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the age of 76. Donald will be lovingly and sadly missed by his best friends, Anna Giorgi and Domenic Anello of Port Colborne, Ontario. He will also be missed by the many friends he has made along the way. They will remember him as a very caring and generous hearted person. He would do anything for anyone. He is predeceased by his parents, Ronald Guy Adshead and Ethel Mae Adshead of Niagara Falls, Ontario. He will be once again be reunited with his precious pet beagles, Sugar and Spice, and with those he cherished that passed before him.

Donald was known as a social butterfly. He would love to chat for long periods of time and was known for his many one liners. He enjoyed his life to the fullest, he enjoyed many things; he loved fishing and telling “fish tales” that he experienced up north as a youngster with his parents. He loved to golf, and partook in lots of leagues, and won many prizes. He was an avid gardener, with a green thumb. He would love to see his plants bloom but was sad to see them end. One of many his jobs he had in his lifetime was a licenced electrician. He enjoyed his woodworking projects, even completing some together with his best friend. He was also a crossing guard for many years for the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario near the Forestview public school. He took such pride and joy in making sure the children crossed safely and received many thank you cards from the kids. He had such a love of animals; it was one of the many things that made him extremely happy. He loved to spoil his own pets but made a point to also give a treat to any dog that crossed his path. He was a great cook and enjoyed creating dishes for his best friends from his nice collection of cookbooks and old family recipes. He loved to go on long driving adventures, to destinations unknown, and time was no issue. He loved playing Rummy, Cribbage, and also enjoyed tackling a puzzle or two. To his best friends, he will always be remembered to them as D.

Essentials Cremations and Burial Services (905) 354-2133 has been entrusted with his arrangements. As per Donald’s wishes, cremation has already taken place, and a private burial service at the Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls, Ontario will take place at a later date. In memory of Donald, donations to the Niagara Falls Humane Society or taking the time to think of him as you raise a glass of cheer in his honor would be greatly appreciated by his best friends. Donald was born on March 24th to Mary and Ron Jaco,bs, due to a fall out in their marriage and pressure from family about raising Don by a single mom she lovingly but with a heavy heart gave him up to her sister Ethel and her husband Ron who could not have children. Mary was an active mom and loving grandma in his life and his children’s and grandchildren lives up until her death. Don married Margaret and had two amazing children Lisa and Laura(Santo), he later had four grandchildren that he regrettably chose to be absent from their lives.. He had a great childhood with his amazing cousins who were like sisters to him and they will forever miss him and all the laughter they all had together.

He worked for Kimberley Clarke, Provincial Crane, small jobs and a crossing guard. Many nights were spent at the Union Center and later Daniels Den Bar with many of his neighbors and work friends. He enjoyed fishing, golf, swimming, taking care of is four legged friends, cooking , having a good cigar, wood working and he enjoyed cheering on his Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Dallas Cowboys. He loved to listen to music and was known to go to concerts with his children seeing Tina Turner, Phil Collins, and Bruce.

Side note:
When his marriage fell apart because of the girl who wrote this obituary, she stole his remains so his family could not bury him. Later in his life he lived with her and she got bored and met a guy online who’s marriage also ended because of her and the three of them lived together as a threesome until they left him homeless. Best friends they may say but a gold digger home wrecker is more the case and the guy is a weasel for what he did to his family. They both wanted what Dons daughters had they are the same age as his kids and jealousy and a great family is something they both envied. Dons last 20 years of life was spent with many regrets and friending them was his biggest!

I had the privilege of working with Don as the first principal of Forestview Public School. Don was passionate about being a crossing guard. He helped keep our students safe. Thank you Don.
