Obituary of Donald “Don” Livingston

With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Donald Livingston on New Years Day 2023 at The Greater Niagara General Hospital a few months shy of his 84th birthday. Don has been reunited with his loving wife Wilma (2005). He is survived by his cherished children Bryan, Lori Waters (Mel) and Lynda (Bil) Blackley. He was the adored Gramps to Kayla, Kelsey and Katrina and Great Gramps to Noah. Don's memory will be cherished by his sister Rita, his in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He will be terribly missed by his great friends Ron and Pat Dmytrow as well as Doris Colosimo. Don was a distinguished marksman in the Royal Canadian Army from 1957 – 1959. He was a long-time member of the Millwrights Local 1007 and he took great pride in his 59 years of membership. The only thing he loved more than being a Millwright was spending time with his family, working in his garage (especially on his kids vehicles) and watering his garden. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. Memorial donations may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary - Port Colborne Hospital.

Celebration of Life will be announced soon.

We met Don back in the mid 90s when my mom (Doris) and Willy became friends, and travel companions. Don held down the home front, while the two ladies travelled the world and made amazing memories together. After Willy passed away, my mom continued the friendship with Don. He became a regular for dinner at Doris’s, and the friendship grew. Don was like a member of the family. Our relatives in Indiana looked forward to the visits. We are all so deeply saddened to hear of Don’s passing, and my mom Doris will miss him immensely. Our deepest, heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of Don’s family. We hope you find peace in your cherished memories.
With Love,
El Meissner and family

Bryan, Lori, Mel, Lynda & Bill and families,
Sending condolences and hugs to you all.
Your dad, grandpa and great-grandpa was a wonderful, genuine man and cherished long time family friend. He’d pop in or we would have driveway visits. It was like no time had passed in between. He had a way of making us feel special no matter the conversation. He was always happy to see us and likewise for us to see him.
May he rest in peace and comfort as he reunites with his beloved Willy.

Bryan, Lori and Lynda, I am very sorry to hear of Don’s passing.
Don was instrumental in many firsts in my life. Suggesting I write the Millwright apprenticeship test, affording me my start with the MW union. Getting my first van ready for “safety”. Through that experience learning that you can do most things yourself if you’re willing to put in the effort. A life lesson that has been instrumental to me over the years.
Always supportive in our early years when we needed it most.
Fond memories still remain.
Terry

Lori, Mel and family my sincere condolences. I was very saddened to hear this news. Don was one of a kind. Always called the Union hall just for a gab or a question, and sometimes just a bit of help with something. He loved to come by the hall with a pizza and a visit. Always a kind, caring gentleman. He will be missed dearly.

Don was a friend a mentor and someting you don’t see any more…a hero, to me.
He encouraged me to join the executive of our Millwright local,
and he recammended me for my first supervision job ever.
He showed me so many things that encouraged me to stay in the trade after my crippiling skiing accident.
Cant say enough about this guy.
I wish his family well in this time of great loss.
Can’t imagine how hard it is to lose someone of his caliber from your day to day .
My sincire condolences..we will certainly all miss Libby…
