In Loving Memory of
Donald “Don” Gallina
1951-2024
Obituary of Donald “Don” Gallina
After spending the day with his family and with his wife by his side, Don passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Beloved spouse of Bonnie Sparling since 1986, he will be greatly missed by her and by his daughter Joan (Tom). Don was a proud Pa to Kaya, who will cherish many fun memories which includes trips to the playground, countless nerf wars and shenanigans. Don was truly a one-of-a-kind brother to Jack (Ellen) and Rae-Ann. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents Jack and Rose, and by his brother Eddie.Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Don worked and retired from Canada Post after a 35-year career. Outside of work, he will be remembered for being a bit of a hippie, as he loved music and enjoyed countless hours attending hundreds of concerts through the years. His athletic side displayed excellent talent as a bowler (he was inducted into the bowling hall of fame) and was also a great slow pitch pitcher and cyclist. Don had a gentle spirit that showed compassion towards many animals through the years. His friends affectionately called him “Weiner” and his presence will be missed dearly by his coffee friends. May he rest in peace knowing that he will always be remembered.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of St. Joe’s Hospital and to GNGH for their care and support. In accordance with Don’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial will be planned in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, Don would appreciate his family and friends to cheer for the New York Yankees!

So sorry to hear of Weiner’s passing. Loved to talk to him when he saw me at the CMB and filled me in on how the other retirees were doing. He managed to make it to our retirement party and we appreciated that. He was a a good friend and fellow worker. Condolences to Bonnie and family. May He be at peace ✌️

RIP Weiner. All your old retired friends at the NF post office will remember you as such a “nice fellow”
My dear friend since Grade Four at St. Thomas More. He was the centre of many friendships from Erwin Crescent days, through Stamford and the Posties. I will cheer for the Yankees in his memory, and the Browns, and the Habs. Very sad to lose a lifelong friend.
He always explained current political and news events to me very well.
Bonnie and Don – great at making me feel welcomed.
I have many light-hearted and fun thoughts and memories
