Obituary of Diane Patricia Morabito (née Hough)

Diane Morabito (née Hough), passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, at NHS-St. Catharines Site surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and the age of 70. She is now reunited with her parents, James and Patricia (née Cartmell). Diane leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories.

Diane was married to her beloved husband Gary for 49 years, creating a bond that withstood the test of time. She was a devoted mother to Brenda (Kevin) and Linda (Eric), and was a cherished Granny to Matthew, Benjamin, Brooklyn, Kaylee, and Aaliyah. She is survived by her brothers Doug (late wife Gerry) and Jason (Julie), and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family both here in Niagara, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

Known for her practicality, courage, patience, and compassion, Diane lived a life marked by selflessness and generosity. She fought a brave battle against cancer for over three years, embodying resilience, and strength.

Diane's adventurous spirit took her to various destinations, including Mexico, British Columbia, all over the USA along with Toronto Blue Jays games with her grandkids. A true sports enthusiast, she shared her passion for the Toronto Blue Jays and Buffalo Bills, often knitting during games. Her creativity shone through in the Halloween costumes she crafted for both her kids when they were growing up and continued the tradition with her grandkids.

Diane was very giving of her time, volunteering at schools for her own children and grandchildren. She loved pool parties, spending quality time with family and friends, and RVing adventures with her husband and grandkids. The song "Shot Gun" by George Ezra held special significance for her and her grandchildren, encapsulating the joyous moments they shared.

The family extends a special thank-you to Dr. Yelamanchili and the staff at NHS - St. Catharines Site for their exceptional care and support.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice in memory of Diane Morabito.
