Obituary of Diane Caroline Kennedy (née Thorne)
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Diane Caroline Kennedy (née Thorne) on Thursday, November 27, 2025 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.Diane was 80 years old.
She was a devoted wife of 62 years to Bob. Through those 62 years they shaped and raised 6 loving children; Bob (Liza), Bonnie Culp (Edward), Gordon (Sarah), Dan (Heather), Sandra McCloy (Dan) and Deanna Brown (Troy). Those children grew up and gave Diane and Bob one of life's greatest gifts, grandchildren. Diane was affectionately called Mama by Alicia (Nick) and Andrew (Victoria) and Grandma by Tyler (Rachel), Kayla (Blake), Emily (Carter), Brian (Sam), Bailey, Brianna, Chantel (Matt), Rae-ann (Nick), Megan (Cody), Brandon (Alexis), Jarod (Brianna), Jordan and Joshua. They were also graced with 11 great-grandchildren and her memory will live on through her many brothers and sisters.
Diane was a woman whose love for her family shone through every part of her life. She filled their home with warmth, laughter and the unmistakable energy of her straightforward and outspoken spirit while keeping Bob on his toes. A devoted homemaker, she embraced what is often called the most rewarding (though never-ending) job, caring for those she loved with unwavering dedication.
In her youth, Diane enjoyed needlework, crocheting, knitting, sewing and macramé, talents that reflected her creativity and patience, always crafting something beautiful with her hands. Later in life, she found joy and relaxation in Diamond Dots. She was known for her delicious cabbage rolls, homemade tarts and her love of canning; treasures that family and friends looked forward to throughout the years.
Diane’s nurturing nature was matched only by her enthusiasm for life. She loved listening to country music and attending concerts, finding happiness in the rhythm and stories of the songs she cherished.
Loving, caring, honest and full of heart, Diane leaves behind memories that will be forever held close by those who knew her. Her presence is deeply missed, but her spirit—strong, generous and full of love, will remain with her family always.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, 4501 Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls, details to come. If desired, donations to The Greater Niagara Humane Society in Diane's memory would be appreciated by her family.
