Obituary of Dennis Clare

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dennis Clare after a very brief illness at Hospice Niagara on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Dennis was the devoted husband of 52 years to Christine (née Atherton), loving father to Danny (Sharon), Chad and Corrie, cherished Grand Dad to Rachael, Ryan, Chloe and Charlotte. Dennis will be terribly missed by many extended family members and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Dennis was born in England and had worked as a carpenter since the age of 15. He became self employed in his later years and his only advertising was word of mouth. He worked right until the very end. He was very skilled and diligent in his work. Dennis enjoyed gardening, golfing and going to the theatre and rock concerts with Christine. They had the privilege of seeing many bands including, but not limited to Boy George, Chicago and The Stampeders. He loved just being in the presence of music.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Hospice Niagara for their care and compassion in their darkest hour. If desired, donations may be made to The Walker Family Cancer Centre.

Christine and family,

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Dennis. I remember him greeting me with a smile and being impressed by the handy work of the beautiful deck he built in the back of your home. May your memories of him give you both the strength and comfort to get through this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Believe us, Dennis was truly one of a kind, especially when he wielded a hammer, saw, screw driver and many other tools he had in his truck. He gave our almost 100-year-old semi-detached home near the corner of Stanley & McLeod in Niagara Falls a real make-over in the summer about four years ago. Dennis and Ed worked their hearts out over there that summer. It was truly a labor of love — and Dennis’s attention to detail was remarkable. Carl will miss him terribly also, as they still had many irons in the fire for projects at Carl’s home.

Our deepest condolences to Christine and family. Peace and Love to all of you.
