Obituary of Denis Grantham
With the love and support of his family and friends, Denis passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020 at Fort Erie Douglas Memorial Hospital in his 81st year. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Audrey. Loving father of John (Andrea Shearer) and Sonia (Robert) Wilkinson, and beloved Papa of grandson, Kyle. Denis is survived by his dear sister Mavis (Malcolm) Mortimer from Dorset, United Kingdom. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Frank. Denis will be lovingly remembered by his family and long-time, loyal friends.A person with a dry sense of humour, Denis also had an entrepreneurial spirit dedicated to life-long learning and giving back to his community. He was continually learning something new, whether it be boating, photography or the many technical skills he developed over the years. Always ready to jump in and help others, he was a true gentleman.
Denis had a long and successful career in avionics and software design. He founded Lectron Avionics and later worked for NAVAIR (Naval Air Systems Command) and the Faculty of Medicine at McMaster University. Denis was also an avid boater, and an active and cherished member of the Niagara Falls Camera Club, the Niagara Area Jeep Club, the Burlington Amateur Radio Club, the Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, and the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). He was especially proud of his central role organizing communications support for a variety of local parades, including the Niagara Falls Christmas Parade.
In accordance with Denis’ wishes, cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or to Diabetes Canada.

Dear Sonia & family,
The Celebration of Life for your father, Denis, was beautiful. Your father was a very special person. He was always a gentleman, and an inspiration to many. I feel honoured to have had the opportunity to work with him on the Parades and events over the years. He will be remembered forever.
A life well lived is a beautiful legacy.
