Obituary of Dawn Paulette Devoe

Taking a cue from her idol, Dawn Paulette Devoe has left the building. She arrived in Graceland on Sunday, June 14, 2026 leaving Bella Senior Care at the tender age of 66. Her loving family surrounded her as she started her journey.

She was a loving sister, mother, nanny, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and friend. Dawn has been reunited with her parents. She was a beloved mother to Tara Devoe, George Risbrook (Lisa) and Dawn Michelle Risbrook (Fred), adored grandmother to five and cherished great-grandmother to four, a caring sister to Donna Greenough (David) and Janine Devoe. Dawn will be terribly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dawn was a loving and dedicated RPN with the Niagara Region for 30 years and worked in various nursing homes in the community. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. Easygoing and easy to live with, she had a quiet presence that brought comfort to those around her. She was incredibly giving, compassionate, and intelligent, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. Her wonderful sense of humor and unmistakable laugh could brighten any room.

Dawn found joy in life's simple pleasures and the people she shared them with. She loved tending her vegetable gardens, watching game shows, playing Yahtzee, and getting lost in mystery and suspense novels. She especially cherished traveling with her sisters, affectionately known as "The 3 Amigos," creating treasured memories on trips to Cuba and Nashville. She enjoyed exploring craft shows, fairs, and flea markets, always searching for unique treasures.

A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, Dawn loved listening to his music, especially his ballads. One of her most cherished experiences was visiting Graceland, where she proudly signed her name in three different places along the wall. She also had a deep love of country music and music in general, which brought her happiness throughout her life.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Bella Senior Care for their kindness and compassion over the last 11 months while Dawn was in their care.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Society.
