Obituary of David (Dave) Bellefontaine
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David "Dave" Allen Bellefontaine at Douglas Memorial Hospital with his family by his side at the age of 65. He has been reunited with his parents Terrence (2000) and Margaret (2013) née Murphy and his brother Richard (2016). He leaves behind his devoted wife Cathy (née Miley) of almost 26 years, his loving siblings; Brad (Sonia), Diane Gagnon (Pat), Terri Cleaveley (Ernie), Dennis (Nancy), Debbie (Colin) Krueger, Tom (Sharon), Mark, Rachelle Smith (Greg) and Greg (Nicholas Kulnies), his dear brother-in-law Mike Miley (Pam). Dave will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins and will be terribly missed by his extended family at Garrison Road United Brethren Church where he devoted a lot of his time as the property manager. An avid bike rider, Dave could often be found riding 50-60 kilometers a day, relishing the freedom and joy that cycling brought. His love for the outdoors extended beyond biking to his passion for fishing and camping, activities he enjoyed deeply, especially when spent with family. He was also a dedicated Scouts leader, instilling in young people the values of teamwork, self-reliance, and a deep appreciation for nature. His commitment to service extended to his active involvement in his church, where he was a valued member and an example of faith and generosity.
Dave loved a good joke, always bringing laughter to those around him. He was driven and dedicated, whether in his personal passions or in his relationships with others. Above all, he cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews. Whether teaching them how to tie knots, going for bike rides followed by ice cream. He also enjoyed romantic picnics along the water with his beloved Cathy, he created memories that will last a lifetime.
Dave's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Scher, the staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital, Dr. Wasserman and the staff at the Walker Family Cancer Centre for their care and compassion.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral service in Dave's honor will be held at Garrison Road United Brethren Church, 1351 Garrison Road, Fort Erie, ON on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. If desired, donations in Dave's memory can be made to Garrison Road United Brethren Church and would be appreciated by his family.

I just learned of David’s passing and would like to extend my deepest condolences to his family.
I send prayers to support my relatives, especially Cathy, for the loss of her sweet husband, my Uncle David.
I am grateful for the kindness I received from the care & love I was blessed with from my Uncle Dave, & Auntie Cathy.
I appreciate that no matter how far away I am, I was shown the supportive guidance, & compassion, of my Uncle Dave.
Especially when I lost my Mom, it was more than 8 years ago, I was feeling lost. But Dave helped me grow from the grief.
He has been influential in my life, by his efforts to invest in my life. Anyways giving wisdom, compassion & emotional empathy.
He also shared his humor to lift my spirits, and bring joy back to my heart.
I appreciate that more than words can express.
Dave is my Dad Brad’s brother, from a family of 11 siblings! From a small home, that family has faced it’s challenges, as my Grandparents, did all they could to provide for such a big family!
They faced their struggles, and they taught their children how to be independent people.
The love that I have received from my Aunts and Uncles, has showed me the enduring love of family and faith.
I appreciate the influence of the family values, Uncle David was so compassionate & caring towards me.
We didn’t have much time face to face , but his efforts to care for me stretching across Canada, it touched my heart to feel his kindness.
Dave was such a gentleman who has made such an inspirational impact on my life. He has been a humble person who has such a good heart. He has shown me the bond of family ties, the strength of enduring love.
I will forever be grateful to have shared relatability, & sensitivities we have in common. I appreciate that sense of connecting to something greater, the essence of what family meant to Dave. God bless. Love Aimee
