Obituary of Crystal Dawn McDonough
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of dear Crystal, the much-loved twin sister of Elizabeth and daughter of Laura. Crystal lived life on her terms. She loved stuffies, unicorns, Dora and Hello Kitty. She had an infectious laugh and an EXTREMELY LOUD voice. Crystal enjoyed hazelnut mocha lattes, sugary drinks, candy, and pop. Within the community, she will be remembered, often seen and resident on the corner of St. Paul and James Streets in St. Catharines. There are many agencies in our community that we need to thank for their care and support during her adventure; Southridge Church and Shelter, Silver Spire Church, Start Me Up Niagara, Women for Women YWCA, Mainstream, Shoulder to Shoulder, Community Care, Out of the Cold, Street Works, Mobile Closet, Hope Center and I'm sure many more. She touched many hearts. "Share a hug and a smile today, let's make it contagious." Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. All are welcome to a Celebration and time of remembering Crystal at 10am, on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Southridge Community Church, 201 Glenridge Ave., St.Catharines. She was my friend and a good friend. I miss her and will always miss her. She is now in heaven watching over and listening to us.
Yes to that infectious smile! My condolences to all who knew Crystal well – and to those who only knew her to see her. She was a valued member of the downtown scene, and she will be missed.
Keep shining your light. That is what I remember about the time we spent at the Y together.
We shared laughs, tears, angry outbursts, smiles, lots of hugs and many stories. You had a heart of gold and didn’t let the cruelties of this world ruin your spirit, no matter what – you kept on, keeping on. You weren’t afraid to stand your ground not only for yourself but also for others, and you were always your authentic self.
That is why we love you.

I met Crystal many years ago while volunteering with programs to support the less fortunate in our communities.
She was by far one of the most memorable folks I ever met. Her heart was enormous and often I remember her using the little she had to help others. She was an incredible soul to meet and everyone held her high in their hearts.
She will be so deeply missed by every single person who had the blessing to meet her. I will miss her smile and her big personality.
You were much loved girl! My favourite of all the ‘community’. I’m so sad I will never get to share a hug, laugh and rant with you. I missed you before you were gone..
Crystal! I’m going to miss you alot. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face. I remember always seeing you in your onesie and you’d show me your new stuffies. You always had a smile on your face, glad I got to know you.
Me and my husband knew Chrystal she was kind hearted and loving person ,funny always nice to chat with ,going to miss you rip always smiling down on us.
Crystal, when you stayed at St. Andrew’s overnight, my dog, Daisy, and I often got to have a visit with you. You were always so excited to see her and love and cuddle her. Such a loving person. Peace and rest to you now, and comfort to your family.

I’ll forever miss Crystal I used to see her at AA meetings and she was there when I celebrated my one year last August she gave the best hugs and had the most amazing laugh she would always lift my spirits when I was feeling down fly high angel until we meet again my dear friend

I will always remember Crystal’s courage and bright energy, she was such a sweet person. We talked many times and she always brightened my day. My condolences to her family and friends.
I met crystal thru here sister Elizabeth at the st Catherine’s general hospital while I was a patient for my corhns me and crystal became close friends as we stayed in the hospital together we would have movie nights in our room some time mine some time hers . After I left the hospital I would see crystal in the community many times and we would share memories stories and laughter . Not being able to she her anymore is gonna be hard crystal was the life of a party could make anyone laugh or smile she gave me the biggest softest hugs and she brought much joy to me.. she would spend some nighrs at my place and now that she’s gone I’m sorry to hear family for this loss that they are facing . Just know that your sister, daughter niece friend lover will be so deeply missed. .. I’m sorry for your loss. …. May crystal live in all of us untill the day we meet again my friend xoxox lots of love. .. now your with brain and all of your friends up in hevañ. . Miss u girl

I had the pleasure of seeing her at Silver Spire and received a loveable hug that I will always remember. Our memories will forever warm my heart. May she rest in Peace in Jesus’s loving arms!!!!
