In Loving Memory of

Coral Jean Gibbons RN (née Balcombe)

Obituary of Coral Jean Gibbons RN (née Balcombe)

Coral Jean Gibbons RN (née Balcombe) (July 18, 1940 - April 14, 2022), succumbed to the combined effects of Alzheimer’s disease and a stroke, and returned to her Heavenly Father. She is for a time separated from her devoted husband Paul. She will be greatly missed by her older son Grantley (Lee) and younger son Ashley (Cari). Her grandchildren, Breanna (Heather), Ethan, Gaelan, Cameron, Quinn, and Joshua will miss her wisdom and her love. As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Latter-Day Saint, nurse, teacher, and friend to many, Coral spent her whole life in the service of others. She faithfully sought to live as Our Lord Jesus Christ would have us all live, loving and serving one another. She will be remembered for her many talents in sewing, needlework, baking, quilting, teaching, and caring for others. Friends will remember her having called them “dear” or “love,” her favourite terms of endearment and the qualities she shared most with everyone. Her youngest grandchild, Joshua, along with many St. David’s Ward members will remember and miss her gift for creating heavenly baked goods. We miss her more than words can say, but we know she is with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, waiting for us to join her one day.

Coral’s family would like to thank the staff of Burgoyne House at Garden City Manor for taking care of her during her stay there. They performed their duties with love and kindness for many months despite the tremendous difficulties of the pandemic.

A memorial service for Coral was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 785 Warner Road, Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the Gibbons family requests that you make donations to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.

I am saddened at the passing of Coral a friend and tutor. I was amazed by her gifted sewing skills. She taught me so much, especially to aim for the best in myself. I will always remember her telling me when I first started classes with her, “Sorry dear you will have to unpick that.” I often hear myself saying, Coral wouldn’t be happy with that when working on a project, so I do it over. Will miss you Coral,

Dear Paul and family.,
I was truly shocked to hear of Coral’s passing. I am so very sorry for your loss which I know you are feeling with much agony. You two were truly soul mates, You spoke of Coral so often and in such a loving manner. I too along with many enjoyed her baking especially at Christmas. She was a lady of many talents and you were so proud of her projects. I wish I could be there for the service tomorrow but we are up north on St. Joseph Island and I will not be able to attend. My prayers and thoughts go out you, dear friend.
With much love ,to all,
Jean, Nick and puppies.
