Obituary of Christopher James Hartley

Although our hearts are broken that he left us too soon, we find peace knowing Chris is now at home with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Chris passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the age of 48. He was a beloved son to his mom, Bonnie (John Henry), his step-father Stephen Nisbet and father, Christopher Eric Hartley. Growing up, Chris was an adored brother of Erica (Lance) Davidson, Charlie (Bud) Walker, Wayne Jefferys, and step-brother of Clayton, Stephanie and Jeff Nisbet. He will be remembered as "Uncle Chris" to many nieces and nephews.

In later years, Chris was faced with many difficulties and mental health challenges. Despite those hardships, he always maintained a wonderful sense of humour and brought much laughter into our world. When Chris was younger, his faith was very important to him. He was never one to judge what anyone had, and didn't think twice about giving them the shirt off of his back.

Chris had a passion for music. He was a fan of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Lennon. Music came naturally to Chris. He tried music lessons for one week and just knew what to do from there on in. Primarily playing the guitar, he loved the blues and would perform at different venues as an artist. He will be remembered by his family and many friends that he met along on his journey.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A private family gathering and cremation has taken place. A celebration of Chris' life will be held at Grace Gospel Church, 5855 Valley Way, Niagara Falls, on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11am. His urn will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls, at a later date. In memory of Chris, memorial donations may be given to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Online condolences may be shared on Chris' tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com.

May you know the peace and comfort this heartfelt thought imparts The ones we love are never gone they live within our hearts. One who has lived never truly dies but crosses a bridge into the next life where all is beautiful and peaceful and the breeze always whispers of lasting love. May it ease your sadness a bit to know your precious memories will always be a bridge between this world and the next

Chris! I love you so much and I always have! I have always told others how much you could make me laugh, give others the shirt off your back and make people feel loved. I’m very grateful that God blessed me with you as my older brother! That you had the courage to constantly share Christ’s love with me even when I didn’t believe and I’d give you a hard time. You loved enough to tell me the truth. For that I am eternally grateful! I love you big brother ALOT! Until we meet again … oh how I would love to laugh with you just a bit longer … I absolutely adore you! Until we meet again. Love you, Erica

In loving memory ...
I/we pledge to make a memorial donation.
