Obituary of Christopher "Chris" John Leonard

We are broken hearted to announce the unexpected passing of Christopher John Leonard on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the age of 58.

Left here to share their lasting memories are his devoted wife of 31 years, Layna (née Wallace), his adored daughter Grace (Hunter Brown), his loving brother-in-law Stephen Wallace (Julie), sisters-in-law Judy Bradford (Randy) and Sandra Revington (John) and his dear nieces Lauren (Matt), Katie (Kurtis) and nephews Alex and Daniel (Victoria), his best friend Michael Sharp and his fur babies Zeus and Copper. He has been reunited with his parents Norman and Elaine (née Ord).

Chris was a thoughtful and considerate man whose world revolved around his family. He loved deeply and showed it in quiet, steady ways, always making sure everyone had what they needed before thinking of himself. Family meant everything to him and it was a true joy for him to watch Grace grow into the remarkable young lady she is today.

Chris cherished time spent at the trailer on Lake Erie, where he could often be found Sea-Dooing, making a fire or waking early to watch the sunrise. An early bird by nature, he appreciated simple moments and the peace they brought. He was handy, diligent and took pride in doing things well. Cooking was one of his many talents, a skill passed down from his father and it was something he truly enjoyed sharing with others.

He cheered faithfully for the Chicago Bears and the Toronto Blue Jays. Casual by nature but always appreciating the chance to dress up, Chris had a balance of ease and care in everything he did. Known as a bit of a clean freak, he took comfort in order and routine.

Chris loved traveling with his family, especially cruises, where he embraced every experience, including the surfing simulator. He treasured long, endless conversations with Layna, moments filled with connection, laughter, and understanding. Above all, Chris will be remembered for his generosity of spirit and his unwavering devotion to his family.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Chris may be made to Community Care and would be appreciated by his family.

My dear cousin Chris, my heart bled when I heard of your passing. You were my “cuz” as we used to refer to eachother as. Although we had not seen eachother in many years, I remember the 70s end 80s when we did often. I wish you eternal peace and we shall meet again one day. To Layna , Grace, and family my never ending condolences and prayers are with you during this truly difficult time. All my love from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
