Obituary of Charles Martin Ryan

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Charles Martin Ryan announces his passing at Douglas Memorial Hospital on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 83.

Charles is now reunited with his beloved wife, Mildred “Millie” Alexandrine Ryan (née Charron), who passed away in July of this year. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage and a loving partnership that spanned 54 years.

Loving father of Keith (Keli-Ann) Ryan and Christina (Allan) Watson. Cherished grandfather to Kyleigh and Kennadi Ryan, Christopher Watson, Alex "AJ" (Kylie) Watson, (Great Papa to Munro Watson), Justin Morris, Jenna (Colton) Roll, and the late Joey Morris.

Charles will be fondly remembered by his siblings Ken (Cheryl) Ryan, Lavern Ryan, and Kathy (Ernie) Charron, as well as many nieces and nephews. Charles is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Doris Ryan (née James), his stepdaughter Shelley Voges, and his sister Louise Landry.

Charles began his trucking career as a long-haul driver before transitioning to short-haul work as his family grew. Never one to sit still, he could often be found outdoors, cutting the grass, shoveling snow, or lending a hand to a neighbour.

Bowling was one of Charles’ greatest passions; Cataract Bowl was truly his second home. He loved coaching kids on the lanes and volunteered his time with the Special Olympics, sharing his enthusiasm for the sport with others.

In keeping with Charles’ wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Lions Club, 4981 Drummond Road, Niagara Falls, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and laughter.

In memory of Charles, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region would be appreciated by his family.
