Obituary of Charles Edward Saltarelli

SALTARELLI, Charles "Charlie"

On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in his 87th year, Charlie left this world to be reunited with his dearly missed wife Lee, and their beloved son Quinn. Born in Welland, to a very large family, he will once again embrace his parents Nick and Nancy as well as many brothers and sisters who have predeceased him. His brother-in-law Teib Fazekas, awaits Charlie with a shot of dark rum! He was proud of his granddaughters Carly (Christian) Hernandez and Talia Saltarelli. They, along with their mom Christine, grieve his passing and will miss his colourful stories. Feeling this loss as well is his daughter-in-law Lil Sawyer, his sister Lil Fazekas and her family, and also many Saltarelli nieces and nephews. Lee's sisters, Rose (Jack) Wilson, Eve (Tony), Tronolone and Pat (Ray) Datt mourn their dear brother-in-law along with the Lazoren family. He will also be missed by Phil and Linda, Juliann, staff and patrons of Scuttlebutt Tap and Eatery, who were a wonderful source of friendship to Charlie. Our family is indebted to them for their kindness and love that they extended to him through the years. A special thanks for the support and compassion received by the team at the Port Colborne Hospital, especially by the staff of Complex Care 2 West. As per Charlie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A small private remembrance will be held for family and friends. On a warm summer’s day, the family of three will rest together at a lake in the Muskoka’s, where their fondest memories remain. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to the Port Colborne Hospital. Online condolences may be made on Charlie's tribute page found at essentialscbs.com.

We have such fond memories of Charlie during our years as customers of Strictly Wines. Courtly is the word that comes to mind when we remember him. Always the hat, well dressed, and then the stories he would tell. We miss him, Quinn and Lee.

Charlie shared so many colourful stories with my wife Joanne and I. He filled in gaps of his family’s connection (his brother Albert) to my family. He was a consumate gentleman and always a snappy dresser. -Chuck Lo Bosco

Sorry for your loss. I worked with Charlie at atlas steel for many years. He was a great co-worker and friend. We had fond memories at strictly wines with Charlie, Lee and Quinn. He will be sadly missed.

Charlie was the most amazing one of a kind gentleman. My sister and I were lucky enough to get close to Charlie the last few years through our dad Chewy. We loved sitting sharing a drink and hearing his stories. Will miss his hugs when we are down visiting at Scuttlebutts. My thoughts are with his family now I know how much you meant to him. He will be missed by so many people.

Charlie, Thank you for being you! The dapper gentlemen with stories I could not wait to hear. I always enjoyed our time together and the smiles we shared. I looked forward to seeing you after work every day. And I loved that my twins made you smile as crazy as they are! I will forever cherish our memories we made and I am so delighted that I was part of your extended family.

Charlie… I will miss your little laugh but I know you are exactly where you want to be with the love of your lives.

Xoxoxo
Till we meet again.
