Obituary of Bruce McKendrick
With heavy hearts we announce that Bruce McKendrick passed away on March 12, 2024, at his home in Welland after a brief illness. He was 63 years old.Bruce was a pillar of love and support for his family. He was the beloved father of Samantha McKendrick (Geoff Webb) and KayLee McKendrick (Todd Young), whom he adored beyond measure. He was a cherished Gramps to Jack and Chloe, whose laughter brought him immeasurable joy. Bruce was also a dear brother to Dave (Liz) and Scott. His partner, Dawn Tilley, mourns his loss deeply and will forever hold him close in her heart.
Bruce's professional life took him around the globe, allowing him to explore and experience the world. His generosity knew no bounds, always ensuring the comfort and well-being of those around him. With a prideful and sarcastic sense of humor, Bruce brought laughter and light into the lives of all who knew him. His easy-going nature made him approachable and beloved by many.
In his leisure time, Bruce found solace in nature, enjoying activities such as kayaking, golfing, and biking. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Welland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce's memory may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre and would be appreciated by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months.

On behalf of the entire team at Neology, I extend our deepest condolences to the McKendrick Family. Bruce was a true colleague and leader to the engineering team and his absence will be felt by all.
Bruce was a great guy to work with. I am so sad to read about his illness and the ravages of cancer. I worked with Bruce while at Raytheon. While I was in Fullerton, I always enjoyed my trips to Toronto to work at the Raytheon site, since all the Canadians were so interesting and vital to Raytheon’s tolling business. They had so much detailed knowledge and expertise that they travelled to the sites. Rest in peace, Bruce.
I am still stunned by the news of Bruces sudden passing. My sincere condolences to Dawn, Kaylee, Samantha, Todd and Jeff.
I was hoping to see Bruce this week after returning from Florida. Bruce was a great friend and neighbor, always willing to help anyone, anytime!
He was a big reason I moved to Hunters Point and I will miss him dearly.
What a talented and caring person. He has helped me and our family countlessly over the years we have known him.
RIP Bruce! No more pain or suffering.

Dear Dawn, we are truly sorry for the loss of your partner and friend Bruce. Our dear friend, Dawn introduced us to Bruce, this solid nice guy, friendly and personable and he liked to play golf. We liked Bruce from the get go. He was compatible and always willing to lend a hand. Together we shared meals, stories and laughter in the Niagara, Welland, Toronto areas of Ontario. As well as in Sarasota & Venice Fl. during the years when Dawn and Bruce wintered close by. We sincerely hoped that Bruce would be able to make it down this Winter between his treatments but his health would not allow the trip and then the telephone call from Dawn with the shocking sad news.
We send our deepest condolences to Bruce’s daughters, Samantha & KayLee for the loss of their father and to Dawn for the loss of her partner. Know that you on in the, minds, prayers and hearts of friends who care deeply.
I had the chance to meet Bruce through work over the last 7 years. He was a fun personality and I greatly enjoyed working with him and his team very much. I think his any my sarcasm/humor fit well together! Condolences from the entire Mythos Technology Team.

I am deeply sorry for your loss of your father and partner.
Bruce and I worked together for many years. We could depend on his leadership and dedication to not just getting the job done but to doing it right. Bruce was the guy to figure out how to make it so even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Although it will take time for us to overcome his loss, the depth of his accomplishments and life lived are things to fondly remember.
To the Family of Bruce,
I hope this message finds you surrounded by love and support during this difficult time.
I am Joe Mullis, and I had the privilege of working closely with Bruce during our time together at Neology after the acquisition of the 3M Transportation Division. One particular memory stands out vividly: amidst the high-pressure environment of a bid response shortly after the acquisition, Bruce and I found ourselves locked in an office with small group, working tirelessly to meet proposal deadlines. It was during these intense moments that I truly got to know Bruce on a deeper level.
What struck me most about Bruce was his unwavering candor and gentle demeanor. Despite the stress surrounding us, his calm presence and genuine attitude never faltered. His professionalism and integrity were unparalleled, and I developed immense respect for him both personally and professionally. Bruce had a unique ability to elevate those around him; he made us better individuals and colleagues.
His passing is a profound loss to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, along with those of all his colleagues and friends. May you find solace in cherished memories and the knowledge that Bruce’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
With deepest sympathy,
Joe Mullis

We first met Bruce when he was taking his beautiful daughters to dance class. It was evident then and always how much he adored both KayLee and Sam. He was a proud, caring and loving father. He is watching over you both now just as he was then. When you miss him, Sam and Kaylee, look in the mirror, he is there with you. Look in the faces of your beautiful children, he is there too. He lives on.
Sending all our love to you both as well as the rest of the family whom I know loved him so.
We were so very sorry to hear the news of Bruce’s passing. He was a wonderful man and we have so many fond memories of him, and the special times that we shared at the house in Quaker Village.
Bruce was always very kind and generous with his friendship. His smile always shone and we felt happy being around him because he made everyone feel welcome.
We are very fortunate to have spent those early family years in a neighbourhood with many close families and the Mckendrick’s were a big part of why it was special.
We wish all his family peace and strength at this difficult time.

We were very fortunate to have Bruce as part of our family for many years. I personally can say l was very lucky to have been able to call him my brother in law and friend. Although we were estranged, we always hoped to see him again and rekindle our friendship with him. Although he is gone his legacy of 2 lovely daughters and beautiful grandchildren will endure.
